What a cool rainy afternoon for a race!  No course walk, and not enough long spikes for all of you (since I locked them in my car) but definitely more than enough SPIRIT!  You all ran your hearts out having so much fun getting the job done.  The entire HS team raced!  Wonderful!

The girls just plain had a blast racing on those whippet hills in the drizzling rain!  Joy raced herself under 25 minutes, hurray!  Siobhan stupendously ran practically even splits despite the inside mile being so hilly. VERY impressive!!  You have a 25min 5k in those legs I am sure!  HannahT paced much better this time and even showed her speed in the end.  Ashleigh was the big surprise of the meet; I was so shocked to see her come ahead of the other two that she smiled and chuckled as she passed.  I guess you like hillsJ nice debut 5k!  Almost all of our girls PR’d and those who didn’t, ran very close to their PRs.  You’re coming along lady EAGLES!  Keep up the hard work, and minimize your nothing days to once a week or less if at all possible even if you just get a 15 minute run in.  Make sure you get at least one lsd run in each week (preferably Sunday or Monday). We should have 5 of you under 26mins and all of you under 28mins by season end which will put you in striking range of a trophy.

I missed the entire boy’s race meeting with the AAA guy who got me out of my lock out trouble; thanks also to Michelle Hoffland who managed the preliminaries of that for me.  Thanks also to Joel who handled getting the 1,2,&3mile splits almost single handedly.  Joel quickly explained to Havi, Love, and John how to do the 2 mile splits while taking the 1mile splits.  They got them with Havi’s wrist watch, which luckily she started at the gun.  Joel ran back to get the finish times with my coaches watch and got the finish times not knowing for sure who was who, that was left for me to figure out.  Way to go smart MS EAGLES!!  All they missed was Ethan, Fred, & Nathans 2 mile splits; with Nathanael’s help today, I am pretty close.  I am not sure whether Fred or Ethan came out on top of the trio.  Official results aren’t posted yet, Whitewater’s coach is pretty sick and it may be a while.  Neither Ethan nor Fred were at practice today; so let me know (one of you) if I am wrong.  Two of our EAGLES took medals, (first time ever) Dalton 4th making the all-time top 10 fasted Whippet challenge list, and Alex with a strong finish to 14th!  Two of our EAGLES under 20min 5k’s.  We need at least three more of you to get under 20mins and preferably five; it can be done!  Aaron, way to hammer down your race time, you’ve earned a faster goal; Joy will miss her pace partner at workouts, but who know she may catch up with you?!  Ethan you did well considering you showed up just before your race, looking forward to your improvement if you train. Over half of you PR’d again earning faster goal times!  Be sure to follow the same training protocol as described above for the girls for a season of personal and team success.  FUN FUNJ     Go EAGLES!
